Top 5 Sony Xperia Z3 Battery Tips & Tricks Here!
Written By Micah on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 | 3:10 PM
The Sony Xperia Z3 has received positive reviews from users because of its wide array of features, functionality and reliability. However, frequently using the smartphone will drain the Z3 battery quickly. There are, however, a number of approaches that you can try to improve battery life and enjoy the device for a longer period of time.
1. Download battery boosters.
BatterySaverApps reported that there are a number of apps specifically made to boost battery life. The apps can help users save as much as 50 percent of their batteries by automatically disabling certain functions when the battery drops to a certain level. There are also optimization tools provided by the apps that will adjust screen brightness, optimize phone charging and disable mobile data, as necessary, to help you conserve more power.
2. Keep the battery cool.
The Sony Xperia Z3 battery should be kept out of direct sunlight or hot places, says Android Pit. Battery life can drop by 20 percent if it is operating at 30 degrees centigrade. The ideal temperature is 20 degrees centigrade, so users should keep their smartphone away from hot cars, sunlight and other warm places. However, batteries actually work better in warm environments compared to cold ones, so it is also not a good idea to take your phone to very cold places.
3. Choose the right apps.
Android Pit reported that certain apps will consume battery faster such as fast-paced games, compared to internet browsing and listening to music. Users have to check apps that always update in the background. Users should disable these temporarily when not in use. Streaming should be minimized or stopped because it tends to drain the battery at a fast rate.
4. Limit access to Location Services.
The same article from Android Pit says GPS features also take a lot of power from the battery. Weather apps, banking apps, social networks and news apps tend to indicate the user's location so disable these accordingly. Users will also see how the apps affect the battery life. Turn off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features when not in use to save more power.
5. Update apps.
International Business Times reported that some apps, when updated, consume less power. Older apps should either be removed or updated to improve battery performance. There is also an Android battery status page on the Xperia Z3 that will indicate which operations or apps tend to drain the battery the fastest.
Observe and update apps and Xperia Z3 activities regularly to maximize battery life.

Sony Xperia Z3: Essential Tips and Tricks
Written By Micah on Thursday, January 1, 2015 | 8:49 PM
Sony’s Xperia Z3 is currently running Android 4.4.4, with Android Lollipop 5.0 just around the corner. Preliminary bugs were addressed in the latest update, which had the build number 23.0.1.A.5.77. If anyone has not updated their phone, I would recommend them to do so immediately as the latest update has addressed almost all known bugs. The following tips and tricks are also compatible with the Z3 Compact.
Audio Tips and Tricks
Audiophiles are going to love the vast list of customizations one can enjoy with the Sony Xperia Z3’s Walkman player. For instance, you can use the Dynamic Normalizer in order to minimize the volume difference between songs or videos. You can select from a set of pre-defined settings for headphones and change settings according to the headphones you are using to get the most out of them. You can upgrade the audio quality of compressed music files to near high-resolution audio using DSEE HX. You can select from the different presets of the equalizer to find one that suits you. You can also turn on the Surround Sound presets which can give you the impression of being in a studio or a club. You can also virtually reproduce realistic surround sound by turning on S-Force Front Sound, which can be found in Settings – Sound – Sound Effects. You can also change the microphone sensitivity.
Display Tips and Tricks
The Sony Xperia Z3 features a 1080p IPS Live Color LED display using Triluminos technology and the X-Reality Engine. Sony allows you to customize the display in some impressive ways. You can set the white balance of your device so that it soothes your eyes. Not only that, you can select either the Super Vivid Mode and X-Reality for Mobile to make colors stand out and make images clearer, respectively. You can also choose to select the Smart Screen Rotation option, which automatically detects your motion and determines when to rotate the screen according to the way you are holding your device. There is also a glove mode which increases the touch sensitivity so that one can use the device while wearing gloves in winter.
Keyboard Options
Normally, you would use third party keyboard apps in order to do type while swiping. The Xperia Keyboard has that option built in and can even very accurately predict the words you are going to type. Additionally, if you like one handed operations, you can opt for the One-Handed Keyboard setting.
Accessibility Options
Various accessibility options can be accessed through the menu. For instance, you can activate the Talk Back feature which provides spoken feedback to help users with poor vision. It describes what you touch, and helps you to select things accordingly. Another handy feature for low vision users is the Magnification Gestures, which allows you to zoom in to see small details.
Developer Options
Sony has always been a developer friendly company, and that can be seen in their software as they keep their user interface very close to the stock Android experience. You can find a ton of developer options on the device too. To see the developer options, open “About Phone” in the settings and click on Build Number four times in a row. After that, you’ll see a ton of developer options ranging from Force Rendering the GPU on 2D Images to USB Debugging. It’s worth noting that you should only turn on or off any settings if you have experience with what they do or are a developer yourself. Normal users should stay away from all of this. The hidden service menu can be opened by typing in *#*#7378423#*#* on your keypad, and that will allow you to manually check the workings of your device.
Call Settings
With the advancements in smartphones these days, we often forget about the most basic feature of a phone: to make calls. I would like to praise Sony for their effort in this area, as they offer a large variety of call settings. You can suppress the background noise during calls or you can enable Slow Talk, which will slow down the speech of the person you’re talking to. Sony also bundles in an answering machine which can record messages when you cannot take a call.
Personalization Settings
What good is a smartphone if you can’t personalize it the way you want? Sony’s Xperia Z3 features a vast list of personalization settings. You can change the theme of your phone. You can download various third party themes from the Play Store as well. Then there is Simple Home, which will transform your phone’s home screen to allow for easier usage. There are some other interesting settings too, namely Smart Call Handling and Smart Rotation.
Power Management Settings
One area in which no other phone can match the Sony Xperia Z3 is its superb battery backup. It offers very deeply integrated battery saving options which could help you keep your phone running longer than normal. For instance, the Stamina Mode contains an Extended Usage option which restricts the device performance to increase the battery time. Also, with Stamina Clock, you can save power if you are frequently using the device to check the time. Then there is an Ultra Stamina Mode which will extend battery stamina significantly, and that can be used if you know you won’t be able to charge the phone for a long time. It limits the functionality of the phone to only a few basic functions like calling and messaging.

Best Sony Xperia Z2 Camera Tips and Tricks For Capturing Great Photos
Written By Micah on Sunday, December 7, 2014 | 11:24 PM
The Xperia Z2 was Sony’s flagship smartphone released in back in April. But less than six months after that, the Japanese device maker decided to launch a sequel in the form of the Sony Xperia Z3.
Both devices have virtually the same 20.7-megapixel main camera and 2.2-megapixel front shooter. In fact, they have almost the same specs with the main difference lying in the quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU powering the Xperia Z3; a slight improvement on Z2’s Krait 400 humming at 2.3GHz.
Current flagship or not, the Xperia Z2 is still an extremely capable handset. On the photography front, it probably has the one of the most powerful cameras around. Sony detailed the device’s camera features in this page, but what we’re going to give you are the tips on how to use those. Users have shared what they like the most about the Z2’s camera in this forum thread and folks from Phone Arena also listed their own tips. We’ve taken the best out of those and compiled the followingXperia Z2 camera tips and tricks.
Use Timeshift Burst to take a photo of moving subjects
Snapping photos of subjects that could disappear or change at any moment (i.e. sports activity, wildlife), may be extremely challenging. Thankfully, the Xperia Z2 has a Timeshift Burst mode that can capture about 30 images before and after you press the shutter button. However, you can use it if you enable it from the settings, which is somewhat counterintuitive as it may take a few more seconds to do so. If you want this feature to be available at all times, head to the camera settings and enable the “burst with Long Press” option.
Activate HDR mode to capture more details
Some phone cameras have limited exposure range; details may be lost in the brightest or darkest parts of a photo. The Xperia Z2 has an excellent HDR mode that can capture a wider range of light by combining multiple photos taken at different exposure settings. You can activate it by tapping on the Mode button and choosing HDR. The only catch is that you’ll need to hold the device steady as the HDR mode take a little more time to snap photo in multiple exposures.
Use the physical camera button to quickly launch the camera.
Few smartphone models these days have a dedicated camera shutter button. The Xperia Z2 is blessed with it and apparently, snapping photos is not its only trick. You can configure it to launch the camera even when the phone is locked or in stand-by. You can couple this feature with the Timeshift Burst mode we mentioned above for catching rare moments as they happen.
Try the Z2’s Clear Zoom feature
When you use digital zoom on other handsets’ camera, it will only stretch the image and produce photos with poorer image quality. The only workaround in those cases is to get closer to your subject physically. With Xperia Z2’s Clear Zoom feature, you can magnify the image up to three times without having a significant drop in pixel quality. It will only work when you set the camera in Superior Auto mode.

How To Extend The Battery Life Of Sony Xperia Z2
The Sony Xperia Z2 is an interesting, feature-packed device. Although it has been succeeded byXperia Z3, it’s younger and slightly more powerful sibling, many users still enjoy its massive 20.1-megapixel main camera, Android KitKat features (which is scheduled to be upgraded to Android Lollipop soon) and fast quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset.
Sony Xperia Z2 battery-saving tips and tricks
- Disable background data to save battery life. This will also lower your data consumption since it limits the amount of data that various applications are utilizing while you’re not using your device. Do it by heading to Settings > Data Usage > Wireless & Networks > Menu > then tick the check box next to “Restrict background data.”
- Adjust auto-sync settings of your apps to limit the frequency by which they update in-app information. This goes hand-in-hand with the previous tip; it will also decrease your data usage. Do it by navigating to Settings > Accounts > select your account name > then clear your preferred apps to disable to reduce auto-sync.
- Sony also has a unique, built-in feature called Stamina Mode to help conserve power. You can activate it on your Xperia Z2 by going to Settings > Power Management > then turn on Stamina Mode. Make sure that you allow some of your frequently used apps to be active in Standby as Stamina Mode will disable most apps running in the background.
- Activate Location-based Wi-Fi. This feature will turn your device’s Wi-Fi on when you are in a predetermined location, like your home or office. It will then turn it off automatically when you’re out of those locations to save battery life. Use it by heading to Settings > “More” > then activate Location-based Wi-Fi.
- 4G connectivity is fast but it is also takes a huge toll on the Z2’s processor, which in turn requires more power consumption. If you can get by with a slower connection or if the location you’re in doesn’t support 4G, then you should switch to a different mode like WCDMA. Do it by navigating to Settings > Wireless & Networks > tap on “More” > Mobile networks > Network mode > the choose WCDMA.
