Use Classic Typewriter Font

Broadcast the Same Message to Several Recipients

Find Out Who is Closest to You

In order to figure out who your best friends are on Whatsapp, go to Settings – Account – Storage Usage on iOS device. Here you will find a list of groups and people you text on Whatsapp apart from overall interactions you’ve had with the person. If you choose “Size” at the bottom of screen, you can find out who spent the most data on using Whatsapp.

Bold, Italics, Strikethrough

You can easily format the text in messages on Whatsapp. You have to add symbols on either side of words. If you want any word to be bold, add asterisks on both sides of sentence or word, for example, *bold*. To write any word or sentence in Italics, use underscores, e.g. _italics_. To strikethrough your message, add tildes, i.e. ~strikethrough~. You can add several symbols on either side of words to use multiple formats, e.g. _*bolditalics*_.

A final thing to look out for is if you know that they have changed something on their profile, such as a name, status, or their profile image and yet what you see is the old one and nothing is different. That is because if you are blocked, then everything stays the same in this respect and at this point it is perhaps the best indicator that this individual has had enough of you.

So, even though WhatsApp made it difficult:

• You can still spot some clues that you have been blocked.
• Their time stamp stating the last time they were on WhatsApp is no longer visible.
• You cannot see their online status.
• That last message you sent only has one tick next to it.
• They have changed their profile, but you see their old one.

They may not be guarantees that you have been blocked, but if you have all of the things noted above, then it is at least a good indicator that this may very well be the case. What you then do is up to you, but at least you can stop sending messages to them via WhatsApp as it really is a complete waste of time.

Perhaps at this point you should give them some time to come around or maybe just move on and accept that you have lost a WhatsApp contact, after all there are only another 700 million of them out there.

First of all, download and install a file manager application such as Cabinet Beta or ES File Manager. After that, open the file manager and go to the WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images directory. Here, you will need to create a new file named “.nomedia” and save it. After creating this file, all the WhatsApp images that are stored in here will not be shown in the Photos/Gallery application.

After this, your WhatsApp images will not show up any more in your Gallery/Photos app.

Locking WhatsApp

As you already know, WhatsApp doesn’t come with a password or any type of locker. With other words, in case someone gets his hands on your mobile device, he will be able to open the WhatsApp application and read all the messages you’ve sent to your friends. However, there are a few applications which will add some security to the WhatsApp application by adding a password to it. For example, you can use either LOCX or AppLock. Both of these applications will be able to lock your WhatsApp application and whenever you will try to open it, you will have to enter the password to unlock it.

Hiding the “Last Seen” time

We all have friends that overwhelm us on WhatsApp. As soon as they see that we’re online, they will start bugging us with questions or their problems. WhatsApp doesn’t have too many Windows Phone users, compared to Android and iOS, but the developers don’t forget to update the version for this platform, every once in a while. A few days ago, on the official page of WhatsApp was uploaded a new beta version for Windows Phone with the option to share MP3 files stored on your device using a dedicated icon, and when you’ll select the right icon, you will be given two options: Audio and Album. If you select the Audio option, you will use a file selector with which you will browse your music library and you’ll choose which MP files you want to share. After sharing them, you have the possibility to forward them again, or to remove them, but you can’t save them. To share videos and photos with your contacts, use the Album option. You will be able to share photos taken with the Lumia Camera v5 application, or any other photos or videos.

The v2.12.20 of WhatsApp for Windows Phone has other changes too, such as the option to use the same color theme as the phone, instead of a green theme. You will be able to select multiple chats and delete/archive them and if the read receipt option bothers you, then you can disable it. This way, your friends won’t know that you’ve read their messages.

The Voice Calling features hasn’t showed up yet on the Windows Phone version, and for now, only the Android and iOS users can make free voice calls all over the world. But, there were rumors about the chances to get this feature in the future, because the developers asked the users of an Italian forum to help them translate some texts related to Voice Calling.

Remember that you have the Web feature in case you want to send messages from your computer, but you will need to install one of these browsers: Firefox, Opera or Chrome and when you see the QR code, open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to the Web option, then scan the code using the device’s camera.

WhatsApp E-mail Scam on the Prowl, Secure Yourself

A bunch of users have reported that they have received some e-mails that have the WhatsApp logo on it and which claim that they have to click on a big green button to read the message.

E-mail spam and scams are nothing new to the PC user community because a lot of scammers have used the name of big brands throughout the years. But, the problem is that when it comes to a frequently used messenger like WhatsApp, users mostly forget the fact that it is a smartphone app and is not supposed to notify you through an e-mail. Even though, there is a web version of the same, the original application was never designed to alert users through any other means.

Official Support Page Confirmed

The official WhatsApp support page has answered a user who questioned whether they send any messages, alerts or notifications through e-mail messages. The developer team confirmed that they have never had such a policy in place.

In their statement, the team said, “We never have a policy that allows the team to notify a user through e-mail messages. We will never e-mail you to notify, or update your app, and will never send a message, request payment, make voice calls, or request videos and pictures. As we don’t have any such policies, we request users to be on alert and never click on any such links. The best way is to simply ignore them.”

They also added that e-mail will be used as a means of communication only when you contact their technical support team and open a ticket. They will use the medium to notify you of the status of a user’s complaint and other things related to a ticket. Apart from that, everything else is handled through Android or iOS, among other operating system platforms.

Hacked E-mails

Reports suggest that the e-mail messages sent in the name of WhatsApp are actually hacked accounts of friends or other people. The accounts are sometimes hijacked for short periods of time, to make you instantly believe that it comes from a reliable source. It is a phishing scam and can be used to perform a wide range of actions including dropping a code on your computer which could send anonymous data.

Whenever you receive any similar e-mail messages from WhatsApp or something similar, just don’t click on anything and close it. You can choose to report it as a spam but it is purely an individual choice and is not mandatory, just in case you were still doubtful.
