RECYCLE BIN FOR PENDRIVE

All of us know the basic fact that, whenever we delete something from a USB flash drive or pendrive, it never goes to the system’s recycle bin. So, isn’t this feature a little bit annoying when we accidently delete something from our pendrive. Now here is a solution for this problem. You can use iBin, a free application which creates a portable Recycle Bin on your USB flash drive.

Whenever you delete something on your USB drive it will give you an option Dump into Bin. Later, when you need to recover or permanently delete any file, then just right click on iBin tray icon and click on Dumping Management. Here you have options for restoring and for permanent deletion.

 RENAME YOUR PC’s RECYCLE BIN

This is quite a simple trick, to rename your PC’s recycle bin. If you ask me the purpose of it…. well, you can just amaze your friends with a dazzling name for your recycle bin.
The following are the steps to be done:
1) Goto start, Open RUN and type regedit and press enter.The Registry editor will open.
2)Now go to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and change the name “Recycle Bin” to whatever name you wish (don’t type any quotes).

1) Pendrive as RAM

This is one of the best-known trick that allows you to use your Pendrive as a RAM for your system, so as to increase the general boot up speed and also the operational speed of your system. It can be possible with any kind of Windows operating system, and all you require is a pen drive of at least 1GB memory ( Better be a 4GB one ).


STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:
1. Insert your Pen drive
2. Wait for the PC to detect the pen drive.
3. After detecting it, Right click on My Computer–> Properties.
4. Go to Advanced–> Performance Settings.
5. In it Advanced–> Change.
6. Select the Pen Drive & click on Custom Size.
7. Check the value of space available
8. Enter the same value in the Initial and Max columns.
9. Now restart your PC.
Now, check the general start up time and also the speed of your PC. It should have increased and the speed depends on the size of your Pendrive. Thus, you just used the space of Pen Drive as a Virtual Memory.

2) INCREASE Speed of Pendrive (Optimise Performance)

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:
1. Plug in your Pen-drive to your Computer’s USB Port.
2. Browse to My Computer, and right click on your Pen-drive’s drive and click on Properties.
3. Click on “Change Settings”.
4. Choose for Better Performance and Click OK!
So simple! You have optimized your pen-drive’s speed!

3) ICONS for your Pendrive

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:
1. Simply find an .ico file you want to use or DOWNLOAD FREE ICONS HERE….
2. Name your .ico file as autorun.ico and put it in the root of your drive.
3. Now, create a text file called autorun.inf in the root of the drive and copy-paste (or type) this inside it:
[autorun] icon=autorun.ico
4. Save your file
You will now see that the icon of your Pendrive has changed to the respective icon you chose.

4) Troubleshoot Undetected Pendrive

Sometimes, when you insert your Pendrive on your system, it may not be detected automatically. This usually happens with some newly brought Pendrives & it’s a usual problem that we all will have experienced at some point of time. Some people may think that their Pendrive is not functioning at all and tries to dump it. But before you do that, you may try this simple trick. It may or may not work in some systems but this is a simple procedure to make your undetected Pendrive to be detected.
STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:
1. Plug in the pen drive on the system.
2. Go to device manager (or type “devmgmt.msc” in the run).
3. Click on “Universal serial bus controllers”.
This will show all the storage devices that you have connected to your PC including your undetected pen drive.                                                                                                                                                   
4. Right click on your undetected pen drive and click uninstall.
5. Remove your pen drive and restart your computer.
6. Connect the pen drive again.
In most cases this is known to work, so you may also try this before throwing off your undetected Pendrive.

In recent years, a lot of changes has been made in storage devices. When you compare new pen drives with the older ones, you will notice a considerable high transfer rate in the latest ones. However, there are times when you can get irritated with slow transfer speed of pen drives while copying data in pen drives. Before knowing the tricks, we shall have a look at some factors responsible for data transfer rate , and they are as follows.
1.Pen drive ageing: Well, this is common for any device that when it becomes old, the rates gets slower.
2.Type of files: The transfer rate of data also depends on the file type; you might have noticed that songs, videos and documents take very less time in transfer while application files need more time.
3.USB port version: The most popular version of USB is 2.0, and it will give you 35mbps speed. So, if you want fast speed then buy 2.0 version pen drives.

Few tricks to Speedup Pendrive Data Transfer Rate:


1.File system should be NTFS: If you want to Speedup Pendrive , then make sure you have NTFS as file system. You can do so by Right clicking on your pendrive and selecting Format,Select NTFS File system, Uncheck Quick Format And Click On Start.
2.Disk errors: To check disk errors go to the properties tab of your pen drive, then select ‘tools’ tab. You will find a ‘check now’ button, click it and then hit ‘start’ to fix the errors. The time taken for scan depends on the size of the pen drive.

3.Device policy: Under properties of your pen drive, select ‘hardware’ tab. Then select USB device from there that will lead you to a pop up window where you need to change settings. You can even have better performance of pen drive by clicking the option under ‘hardware’ tab.
