Google gathers huge amount of information which is really useful to both us and to Google.
This way they enhance their choice of which search results to reveal based on the stuff we have chosen before. Also, they provide us with similar results which we have liked afore once we search again.
Our Searches Are Quite Important
Moreover, some may think that it is pretty creepy that Google tailors ads to our searches, but that is actually pretty good since we would all probably rather have ads with relevant offers and information than those that are completely useless to us. Google search data is fascinating for social sciences as well, since what people are looking for and searching gives us the idea about what they are thinking, and it generally tells us somewhat about what “we” think as a society. It can also be uncannily predictive. Anyway, it is quite creepy, as we give up information voluntarily, and probably don’t reflect much about all that’s being collected.
Downloading and Deleting Your Google History
Google now allows you to download all your search history in order to see it and archive it. Also, they will let us delete our search history, and it has been suggested that doing this indeed removes it from Google’s servers. Anyhow, no matter if you are concerned about the safety and security of your searches on Google, or you simply want to delete your searches for the gifts you plan to buy your spouse, the medical condition you were afraid that you had, or the cosmetic surgery you wish you could undergo, the search giant Google really makes it easy to deal with your queries.
As already mentioned, you are able to download a list of everything that you have ever looked for and searched for since you started using Google. The downloadable archive includes all the keywords and terms you have ever googled including stuff that today you might consider as offensive and sensitive, and think that is shouldn’t stay in public domain. This way you’ll have access to your data where and when you want. If you wish to download your Google searches and history, here’s how you can do it. First, you have to sign into your own Google account. Then go to your Web & App Activity, and click the gear icon located at the page’s top right corner, and then select “Download”. After this, you need to click “Create Archive”, and finally once your personal archive is prepared to be downloaded, you’ll get an email from Google. You will then be able to see the archive in your Google Drive’s “Takeout Folder”.
On the other hand, if you wish to delete and remove your Google browsing and search history, here’s how you can do it. First step is signing into your own Google account and heading to Web & App Activity. After that, click the gear icon at the page’s top right corner, and select “Remove Items”. Then you need to select time period for that you wish to delete items. If you want to delete your entire Google history, then choose “The Beginning of Time”. Finally, click “Remove”.
A Few Things to Keep In Mind
If you regularly use Google, there are a few things you have to keep in mind if you want to delete your entire Google history. You will miss out on several improved search results that give you smarter predictions and more relevant results. It can also wreck your Google Now virtual supporting experience. Google provides several ways do download and view your activities while using and working in Google’s ecosystem. Your Account History page is another great place to view your settings. That’s the place where you are able to choose how Google Tracks your private data and activities.
