Viber is a great messaging app that you can use to communicate with people using different devices.
It provides instant messaging and voice and video calling for free. The app is being updated regularly and although it does not have many years of experience, Viber is one of the best chat apps you can download on your device. If Viber is your official chat app that you use to connect with other people, then you should know some of the best tricks to make your chat experience more convenient and fun.
Take Advantage of Smart Notifications
By default, you will receive every single notification every time you receive a new message even if it comes from the same person. Some people don’t want that so Viber gives you the option to enable Smart Notifications. This helpful feature allows you to receive a single notification for all incoming messages from one person or group. In Viber for Android, you can enable Smart Notifications for both individual and group chats. However, in Viber for iOS, you can only enable the feature for group chats.
Block Contacts
You can block a mobile number on Viber if you want to prevent that person from contacting you. Once they are blocked, they won’t be able to contact you in any way – no text and calls. Additionally, if you have blocked someone by accident, you can also unblock that person.You can block a contact from the Contacts tab while unblocking them can be found in Privacy, under Settings.
Hide Online and Seen Status
Some people are okay with their status being shown while others are not. The good news is Viber gives you the option to choose between the two options. You can choose to hide or show your online and seen status on Viber. You can do this by going to the Settings and then Privacy in the app. From there, you can enable or disable one of the two options.
Delete Selected Messages in a Conversation
If you want certain messages not to appear in a conversation, you can delete them from the chat window. Just tap and hold the message you do not want to see and tap Delete. This will erase the messages from your chat window but they will still remain on your friend’s. So if you really don’t want any proof that those messages existed, you should ask your friend to do the same.
Disable Message Preview
By default, when you receive a new Viber message and the notification for the app is turned on, you will receive the notification and a preview of the message. Some people prefer this way because they can tell from the preview if the message is important. On the other hand, some users don’t want a preview to be shown for privacy reasons – which is why Viber also gives users the options to choose what they prefer. This feature can be seen in the Settings tab and by tapping the Notification option. If you disable it, you will only receive a notification that says “(name of person) sent you a message.”
