It’s reasonably simple to find a free messaging app that’s designed for Android, iOS, Windows Phone or BlackBerry, but finding a messaging app that you can really depend on can take any length of time. Then you have to install the app, then sign up with it for an account, then get to learn and get familiar with the app’s user interface and how smoothly it works on your device, and all the other usual routines you go through the first time you start using an app.
One of the nice things about WhatsApp is that none of that is necessary (minus the installation part, obviously). WhatsApp will be made even better in the coming future especially now with their introduction of the Android voice call feature.
If you use an Android device, this article will show you how to add details to your contacts list.
First thing’s first. Obviously, you’ll need to be sure that whomever it is you intend to add to your contacts list is also a WhatsApp user, but you totally knew that. Go into your Android device’s contacts list and add the new number there. You have to be sure to include a plus sign at the beginning (+), then the country code, and then the number as usual.
After you’ve done this, check the logo that’s displayed to see whether it’s a SIM card logo or a phone logo. If it’s a SIM logo, touch and hold that particular name, and then select “Copy to Phone”. If it’s a phone logo, WhatsApp will update with the information automatically.
It’s important that this person adds your number to their own contacts list so that they have your info. Once you open WhatsApp, check to make sure that your friend’s name is on the list by tapping the Chat icon. If it’s not there, access the Menu and then tap refresh.
Once you’ve refreshed the page, your friend’s number will then appear on your list.
