Our favorite word is evolution and it’s related to technology and how it helps us every day. We keep in touch with our families, friends and people we’ve once met and we want to talk to them and listen to their stories, even if they’re miles away from us. And messaging applications are gaining popularity, being used by millions of people from all over the world. WhatsApp is well-known and extremely appreciated for its features, plus it supports six mobile platforms, including iOS. So, if you’re reading this article, it’s because you own an iPhone and want to know how to install WhatsApp on it.
You don’t need to have a jailbroken iPhone to install WhatsApp, as there is an official version (2.11.16) on iTunes, so go to the Apple store and download the application on your iPhone 6 which obviously is running on iOS 8. If you have an older iPhone, to install WhatsApp, you’ll need to upgrade to iOS8. So open the Safari browser and type whatsapp.com. When the site loads, you’ll click on the green bottom and a popup will appear, asking you to install the application. Click on the Install button go to your homescreen where you’ll notice a text box asking you if you trust the developer, so click “trust” and let WhatsApp install. During his time, you’ll see a black spinning wheel. Don’t interrupt it and don’t open the application until WhatsApp is installed.
Here are a few things you can do on WhatsApp:
- send text messages, photos, voice notes, videos, share location and exchange contacts
- hide the Last Seen Status and read receipts by going to Settings->Chat Settings->Advanced->set the “last seen time stamp” to off
- lock WhatsApp by setting up a pin or password
- stop images from appearing in the camera roll by going to Settings->Privacy->Photos->Switch off for WhatsApp
- stop message previews from appearing on the homescreen by starting the Cydia app and using the search button to look for “notification privacy”. After installing it, head to Settings->Notification privacy->click on “hide in notification center” from the options tab, then select WhatsApp
- recover deleted messages by downloading iPhone Data Recovery on your PC. Connect your iPhone and click on “Recover Data From iOS Device”, then on the “Start Scan” button and when you’ll see all the data you’ve deleted, but select only WhatsApp and click on “Recover” and select the location where to restore the data.
- to change your number, you don’t have to uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp. Just go to Settings->Account->click on Change number, enter the old one in the first field, then the new number in the second field. Click Done and that’s it!
