WhatsApp to Announce Video Calling Feature with their Upcoming Update

Human desires never seem to end.
Whenever something is satisfied in our lives, we tend to want another one. This is human nature it seems. Sometimes, you may find people wanting something they don’t even need.
This is not an understatement; but the WhatsApp video calling feature is one of these things we keep wanting, yet we least need them.
Free Video Calls
WhatsApp has been the subject of talk when it comes to free instant messaging. However, there have been recent rumors that this instant messenger will soon be launching their voice calling feature. It was even thought that this feature was to come before the end of this year; however, the CEO of WhatsApp had to come out publicly and announced the reality of the matter – that this feature will not be available at least until the first or second quarter of 2015.
Another rumor has surfaced and this time round, it is about the video calling feature for the latest update of WhatsApp. Even though this feature is not expected this year, it is expected to come out very soon. However, close sources within this recently Facebook-acquired company suggest that this feature is now a ‘lock’ and it’ll be out as soon as the next update of WhatsApp is rolled out.
Majority Decision Makers
When CEO Jan Koum announced the fate of WhatsApp voice calling feature, he cited technical issues as a major hiccup delaying the release and or launch of this amazing long-awaited feature. However, the video calling feature has another version. Sources inside the company suggest that due to the increased number of decision makers in the board, since Facebook took over the reins, it is they who are dictating things. Allegedly the blue ticks feature was an idea behind the geniuses of Facebook.
As it stands, much cannot be said of the same regarding the video calling aspect of WhatsApp. However, since the mega deal that saw hands exchange close to $22 billion, it is viable to say that Facebook is the one behind this video calling feature of WhatsApp. There are even further rumors that suggest that making calls from WhatsApp to Facebook and vice versa is coming very soon.
A Bright Future Ahead
Even though they have one foot in the future, the introduction of free video calls on this giant mobile app will not get the other foot into the future. Better still, it can be viewed as a good sign of what is to come in future.
It is thought that this feature will be available in the next release of WhatsApp updates. However, before that, it’s expected that WhatsApp will first launch the video messaging feature to work in a similar manner like Skype’s Qik where people can send and receive video messages, as well as share photos and other multimedia files on various social media platforms. WhatsApp will also include a self-destruct special video feature in the coming update.
Even though the decision to introduce video calling feature on WhatsApp has been welcomed by many at the main headquarters of Facebook, as well as those using this app, this move will serve as a huge disappointment to the purists or perfectionists, because, according to them, a text messenger should remain to be a text messenger; whereas, a voice and video calling messenger should likewise remain to be a voice and video calling messenger.
In this case, these people feel that WhatsApp is crossing the lines and with the introduction of free video calls, it has done nothing of great significance since they deem this feature as unnecessary. The good thing about it that purists will enjoy is that this is just still a rumor and nothing has been confirmed just yet.
