IPv6 – The Newest IP Address Alternative – Top Features and Improvements

Written By Micah on Sunday, May 17, 2015 | 11:13 PM

If the universe is infinite, we can’t say the same thing about the IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, which, soon, will reach the bottom of the bag. Currently, there are over 4.3 billion IP addresses and every day, people buy new computers and connect to the internet. This way, these devices are assigned with a different numerical label (32-bit number) which has two functions: location addressing and host/network interface identification. Soon, the available addresses will run out, but don’t worry, there’s another version of IP (IPv6) that uses 128 bits, which started getting popular in the mid 2000s.
If you have a smartphone and a SIM card, then you have a mobile number where people can call you or send you messages. Imagine that when you connect to the internet through your computer, you’re using an online “phone number”, as an identification. This is your Internet Protocol address, and, every day, new IPs are assigned to every computer from this world that has access to the internet.
What will happen when there will be no available IP addresses left? When the stock will be exhausted, you won’t be able to reach half the internet and to watch videos, because in short time, probably until the mid 2016, the available IP addresses will come to an end and a new system – IPv6, will replace the old IPv4, when it will reach exhaustion.
The history of IPv4 started back in 1981, when a bunch of volunteers created a system that helped people to have access to the pages they wanted. To handle all the online traffic, the volunteers made 4.3 billion IP addresses, which seemed a huge number, but no one was expecting to reach the limit almost 34 years later. Since the technology is evolving every day and new computers are released on the market, more people will have access to the internet. According to predictions, by 2020, around 50 billion devices will have access to the internet and since the IPv6 addresses are starting to become known, their stock will be more than enough for every computer from the planet. 340 trillion trillion trillion (340 followed by 36 zeros) IPv6 addresses will be assigned to generations and generations of computers, in the next hundreds or thousands of years.
There is also a bad news: not everyone is ready to make the transition to IPv6, but maybe that’s because not many have heard about this technology and that’s why they’re not rushing to contact their ISP to receive an IPv6 address.

Why Google Play Keeps Crashing For You

Every one that has had an Android Smartphone has at one time experienced recurrent incidences where Google Play Store keeps crashing. This can be with a Google Play Store error message that indicates that the app shut down or could come up when it refuses to download apps on the play Store. This can be really annoying, especially when you do not know why the app has crashed and therefore do not know how to fix it.
Here are a few reasons why Google Play Store can crash and a few ways to fix it:
Update
Google Play Store could stop working after receiving an update that does not work quite effectively. The update might have installed incorrectly and therefore the app will not work as normal. It therefore makes sense to uninstall the update so as to get the services working. This can be easily done by going to settings, searching for the Google Play Store app and looking for an option that says “uninstall updates.”
By clicking this option, you will be able to delete all the recent updates of Google Play Store that did not install correctly and return the application to its previous normal working condition. After this, you may want to find the second newest version of Play Store and update. This can be found from Google Play Store APKs where you can choose the update version that you want.
Cache
In most cases, cache data could sometimes be overloaded or could have stored some previous information that prevents the application from working well. In this case, the only solution is to delete cache data.
In order to empty data on Play Store this way, you simply need to go to setting, find the application which you are looking for, in this case Play Store. Tap on the application then press the ‘empty cache’ option. Now, all you need is to open Google Play and it should run correctly.
Deactivating download manager
Google Play Store will not run at all if you have deactivated the download manager. The download manager could be deactivate in a bid to stop automatic download of apps. By doing this, Google Play Store will not respond well and could crash if the download manager is disabled. To get it working, go to settings, then App Manager, All apps tab and search for the download manager application. Tap on it in order to activate it.
Google account problem
An error could sometimes occur with your Google account. This could be due to updates that cause loss of your Google account data. When this happens, all you have to do is to delete your account then add it again. In order to remove your account, simply go to ‘settings,’ go to ‘Samsung device and you will find an option that states ‘Remove Account. By confirming your choice, you will be able to remove the current account. Reboot your choice and reinstate that Google account by going back to settings, then accounts then clicking Add Account.
If Google Play keeps on crashing for you, it could be due to old cache data, recent update of the application, deactivating download manager or the Google Account had a problem. By following the troubling shooting process, you will be able to enable Google Play services to work.

Best 5 Password Managers of 2015 – Keeping Your Devices Safer

Technology has brought lots of good things to our lives.
The online world is constantly growing bigger and better. However, this is one of the most insecure places to be.
Just like the normal world, surviving needs adaptation and being smart in decisions and choices. You probably have more than one web page that requires you to sign in; for instance, Facebook, Gmail or even Twitter. Honestly, you don’t want to be the one keeping a written copy of your password or passwords for the various services and sites you have. Furthermore, keeping in mind all of them can at times be problematic.
If you have several websites and services that use different passwords and you have a problem keeping hold of all of them, there is nothing to fret about. Password Managers are the solution you are lacking. However, you should be keen before choosing a Password Manager of your choice, especially with its compatibility, features as well as security it offers, among many others.
Here is a list of the best 5 password managers you can use on your Windows and Mac PCs as well as Android and iOS mobile devices.
1Password
1Password is a very convenient password manager that will help you store multiple passwords and you can access them whenever you need them. The good side of this 1Password app is that it can be installed on Windows and Mac PCs as well as the two major mobile operating systems, Android and iOS. You can also get a browser extension of 1Password for your Chrome, Safari, Opera and Firefox web browsers.
This app offers more than just storing passwords; it can also be used to store data such as ID cards, credit cards, software licenses and secure notes, among others. Furthermore, 1Password app enables creation of folders which can then be synced across devices. The PC versions of 1Password are available for $49.99 while the iOS and Android users will get the app for free.
LastPass
LastPass is actually the simplest of the many password managers on this list. The app asks you whether you want the last password you used to access a website or service to be saved. If you opt for yes, LastPass will automatically fill the login form when you visit this page again. The app will provide you with a list of all the accounts you use and you can choose the one you want to log into.
Once all the passwords have been saved, you will still need a master password to get things going. You can get a web browser extension for your Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari. The good thing is that all these and much more such as in-built password generator and centralized password management are available for free. However, the premium features must be paid for, but only a small fee of $12 per year is needed to get things going.
Passible
When talking of security, this app is the best you can have out there. Passible meets the set standards of 256 AES Encryption Standards, which ensure that your data is safe from NSA and other government institutions. The unwelcoming part of this app is that it’s only available for iOS users; however, hopefully Android users will get their version in the coming days.
Passible is very simple to use, offering users with a UI for filling their usernames and passwords. There are other features the app offers, among them Password Analyzer which helps in determining the difficulty of your password. All these are available for just $2.99.
Dashlane
Dashlane is a free to download and install password manager that all users of Windows and Mac PCs can use. However, the mobile app is only available for iOS users alone. It encrypts all stored passwords with 256 AES encryption technology, which makes everything very secure. There is an additional digital wallet feature on Dashlane and users can easily change passwords of various sites and services directly from this app. For the best overall online protection, Dashlane is the best app available for free. However, the premium features must be unlocked with a fee of $39.99 per year.
PasswordBox
PasswordBox is a free password manager that can be installed on Android, iOS as well as on Kindle devices. Furthermore, this password management software comes with a browser extension for Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer as well as Opera. Other than you log in details, PasswordBox can also be in handy when it comes to filling other data that include addresses and credit card details. If you deal with lots of sensitive stuff on your Android or iOS phone, PasswordBox is your app.

LG G4 – Five Tips for Great Photos with the Camera

The LG G4 comes with a superb camera both on the front and the back of the phone.
The raw numbers show a 16-MP sensor on the back with LED flash, optical image stabilization and a new color spectrum sensor. On the front, the LG G4 has an 8-MP snapper for selfies. And while the camera is powerful, a few tips can help you take even better photos.
Use the Potential of the Lens
The LG G4 has the wider lens on any phone in the market. The f/1.8 lens is as wide as possible. This wide aperture makes sure your pictures get more light which results with clearer and sharper photos. Taking pictures with such aperture requires a bit of adjusting. But once you get the handle of it, the lens of the G4 will help you make the best photos in your surroundings.
ISO
Adjusting the ISO is recommended when taking photos in low light conditions. To get photos with little noise, it is recommended that you lower the ISO for night shooting. Whenever you play with the ISO, make sure that you have enough light in the picture. If the outside conditions are bright, you want a higher ISO.
Shutter Speed
Shutter speed determines how much light your phone will let into the image. Slower shutter speed lets more light as the phone makes the shutter opened for a prolonged amount of time. Slow shutter speed is not recommended only in situations when you want to snap moving objects and sports events. Adjusting the shutter speed can lead to creative and neat pictures. One advice is to adjust the speed to 1/4 seconds. This will increase the amount of light the phone gets and thanks to the optical image stabilization, you will still get clear and sharp images.
White Balance
Another option you can adjust in manual mode is white balance. This variable determines the color temperature of your picture. One trick to best use white balance is to put your camera in live view mode. This will let you adjust the white balance and see how the picture might look. As for tips, low temperature results in orange and red shades, while higher temperature delivers blue and violet shades.
Color Spectrum Sensor
This one is more of an advice than tip. The LG G4 has a special color spectrum sensor located below the camera. The sensor ensures you always get accurate and natural colors. At first, you will notice your photos look different than on any other smartphone you’ve used previously, but that is a good thing. Embrace the sensor and enjoy its benefits.

Windows 10 Home
Windows 10 Home is a replacement for the basic versions of Windows 8.1 and it will be free this summer. And the happiest users will be those who have a tablet that runs on Windows 8.1 and it’s powered by an Intel processor, but Windows 10 Home will be available also for devices running on Windows 7 Starter, 7 Home Basic and 7 Home Premium.
Windows 10 Mobile
While Windows 10 Home will be an upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1, Windows 10 Mobile will reach the smartphones and tablets that currently run on Windows RT and Windows Phone 8.1. This mobile version won’t be bought from online stores, but it will come embedded inside the devices that you will buy from now on. However, the Microsoft tablets running on Windows RT and Windows Phone 8.1 won’t be upgraded to Windows 10 yet.
Windows 10 Pro
This is another version of Windows 10, but it comes with advanced features that aim a premium category of consumers: those that are running small businesses. Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn’t given many details about this version, but it will surely interest a lot of app developers.
Windows 10 on Xbox One
The Xbox One console is running on Windows 8, but it has other custom upgrades. Microsoft will roll-out the new Windows 10 to every Xbox One console, but for now, we don’t have any substantial information about the changes for this version, and it’s uncertain yet if the users will be able to download applications from the Windows Store.
Windows 10 Education
Another version of Windows 10 was developed for educational purposes and it won’t be found in stores, but it will be installed on computers from schools and school districts.
Windows 10 Enterprise and Mobile Enterprise
The companies will buy the Windows 10 Enterprise version in bulk directly from Microsoft, but a price for it hasn’t been set yet. Of course, it will have a sophisticated application management, encryption and other features, but we don’t know yet when it will be released.

Apple Watch - Essential tips and tricks

Use it as a remote shutter release
The Apple Watch comes with a native camera app on the home screen - look for the camera icon and tap on it to start.
It also works as a viewfinder. Tap the virtual button to snap a picture. The other virtual button triggers a burst of 10 pictures.

Take a screenshot
Found something interesting on the watch display which you want to share? No need to snap a photo with your Apple iPhone.
Hit the Digital Crown and Side Button simultaneously to take a screenshot that will be stored on the Camera Roll of your paired iPhone.

Use it as a remote control for your Mac or Apple TV
The watch doubles as a remote for a Mac or Apple TV. The devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone paired with the watch. Find the Remote app on the home screen of the watch, tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Swiping on the watch to navigate the Apple TV interface is much easier than using Apple TV's physical remote control.

Deleting all notifications
Not all notifications may show up all the time, but they are all there, and can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the display.
If, for any reason, you want to delete all notifications, do a force touch on the notifications screen and tap the Clear All option when it appears.

Sync your favourite Playlist
You can control your music playback with the watch's Music app. You can also copy a favourite Playlist to the Apple Watch and listen to the music even when your iPhone is out of Bluetooth range, because the music will be stored in the 8GB of storage on the watch.
Go to My Watch >Music. Under Synced Playlist, choose a Playlist to sync. The size of the playlist cannot exceed 2GB.

Alter default Messages responses
You can rewrite the few default replies for Messages in the Watch app. Go to My Watch >Messages >Default Replies. Choose any reply and key in your own custom reply. For example, you can amend "I'm on my way" to "Coming soon, lah!".

Switch on Power Reserve mode
If you think the battery of your Apple Watch is running too low, you can turn on the Power Reserve mode manually and just use the watch for timekeeping for up to 72 hours.
Hold down the Side Button to bring up the Power Reserve option. Slide it to Power Reserve mode.

5 Must Know Tips to Keep Your Android Device Safe

Written By Micah on Saturday, May 16, 2015 | 10:38 PM

The threat that people face these days is too high not only because you have a lot of data stored on the cloud but also because of the devices you use.
Securing your Android device before things go out of hand is mandatory and here’s how you can do it.
The amazing and ‘must-know’ security tips do not come from a security analyst or an expert but rather from Google’s own Adrian Ludwig. The chief security officer in the company has taken some time to help people understand the importance of security and to help them secure their phones and tablets to stay within the safe zone.
Immediate Security Measures
Use Lock Screen Password – Most users tend to skip this method because it is a pain to manually draw a design or enter a password every time you unlock your device. But, it is very important and you should set it right away.
Backup data – Using cloud storage to your advantage could help! Start by backing up your data which will allow you to replace content if your device gets corrupt, damaged or stolen. The best backup apps available for Android are Helium, Titanium, My Backup and Ultimate Backup. You can use Google’s own services as well.
Use Encryption–Nexus devices use encryption settings by default so that others cannot readily access the data within. Any phone or tablet running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or above can be encrypted by going to settings, encryption page.
Security Tips
Google Play Store – The Play Store is the most trusted way to download your favorite apps and games. There are so many third party Android stores out there but many of them are pure scams designed to rob your data. Unless it is trusted by plenty of users, you should stick to the official store for your needs.
Android Device Manager – The best productive and security app is your Android Device Manager. It will come in handy in a situation where you have lost your device. It allows you to remotely find the location of your phone or tablet. In case you can’t find it, you can even choose to remotely erase and lock the phone so that it becomes useless to everyone else.
Using two factors, authentication on Google is another important step that you should never skip. It not only helps you safeguard your phone but also your important e-mails and contacts, especially if Gmail is your primary e-mail client.

Nexus Android 5.1.1 Battery Autonomy Fixes – Tricks And Tips

Android 5.1.1 update is rolling out to Google’s Nexus tablets: 9, 7 and 10, and this version is supposed to fix many issues in Lollipop, but we don’t know yet if there are many users affected by the battery life problems which were inherited from the Android 5.1 update, which were reported even by the Nexus 6 users.
Because of the battery life problems, Google released Android 5.1.1, which is rolling out in phases, and will be available for four Nexus devices. Now it’s too early to tell if the users are content or if there are many experiencing the same battery drain. Only a few users complained about this problem, but we’re waiting for the rest of the Nexus owners to receive the update and to leave a feedback.
But, if you’re among the users with a bad Android 5.1.1 battery life, there are solutions for you. These methods work even if you’re running Android 5.0 Lollipop, 5.0.1, 5.0.2 or 5.1.
Identify the applications that drain your battery
When you feel that your device is dying faster than usual, you’re probably running a bunch of applications, most of them eating not only the battery, but the RAM as well. Most likely, you’ve installed graphical or data intense applications, without knowing that they can affect the battery life of your Nexus tablet or smartphone. To track the applications that drain your battery, you can go to the Battery section of Settings. When you find out which app is the battery killer, take the decision to uninstall it and install an alternative. But, if you’re not sure which software is eating your battery, restart your Nexus device and boot into Safe Mode. Turn on the screen, press and hold the Power button, press and hold the Power off option from the dialog box, then tap on OK from the next dialog. Safe Mode disables third-party applications and you can identify the applications that are guilty of killing the battery.
From time to time it’s recommendable to restart your Nexus device, because this way, your cache will be cleared and the battery life can go back to normal.
Clear the cache partition
Since we started talking about the cache partition, this is how you can clear it manually. You will need to press and hold Power + Volume Down buttons in the same time and wait until your screen has something else than Google on it. When you see the large arrow at the top of your screen, tap the Volume Down multiple times until you see Recovery in that arrow. Next, you will tap the Power button and an Android will appear with its chest open and having a red triangle and exclamation mark in the middle. Since you’re holding the Power button, you will have to tap the Volume Up one time, then release the Power button. Immediately, a list of items will appear at the top of the screen. You will tap the Volume Down until the item for wiping the cache partition will be highlighted, then to initiate the clearing process, tap the Power button. You will need to wait between 10 and 15 minutes for the process to complete, then you’ll restart the device.
Disable services that you’re not using
WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS or NFC must be turned off when you’re no longer using them. To do that, go to your Nexus’ quick settings menu or “kill” them from Settings.

WhatsApp Free Hidden Security Tips for iOS, Android and Windows Phone

It’s been a while since the WhatsApp Voice Calling got released for iOS and Android. The feature was recently released for BlackBerry 10 and according to some new rumors it will soon be released for Windows Phone devices as well.
WhatsApp is a messaging application that is used by over 800 active users to send messages, videos, photos etc. to their loved ones. This means that those messages, videos or photos may be quite personal and you don’t want them to be seen by everyone.
Today we’re going to give you a few hints that will help you improve the privacy settings on your WhatsApp.
Hiding Blue Ticks
One of the features that many people hate on WhatsApp is the “Blue ticks”. This feature allows the recipient to know whether you’ve read or not the message(s) (s)he sent you. This feature can be disabled by going to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Privacy and unchecking the “Read receipts” option.
Backing up the WhatsApp conversations
By default, the WhatsApp application is making a backup of your WhatsApp conversations everyday at 4AM. However, you can do it manually anytime you want by going to WhatsApp Settings->Chat Settings and tapping on “Back up chats”.
Hiding WhatsApp pictures from Photos/Gallery
Whenever you receive or send photos on WhatsApp, those photos are automatically saved in a folder on either the internal storage or microSD card. This means, that if you borrow the device to someone and (s)he takes a look at your Photos/Gallery application will be able to view all the photos you’ve sent/received on WhatsApp.
First of all, download and install a file manager application such as Cabinet Beta or ES File Manager. After that, open the file manager and go to the WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images directory. Here, you will need to create a new file named “.nomedia” and save it. After creating this file, all the WhatsApp images that are stored in here will not be shown in the Photos/Gallery application.
After this, your WhatsApp images will not show up any more in your Gallery/Photos app.
Locking WhatsApp
As you already know, WhatsApp doesn’t come with a password or any type of locker. With other words, in case someone gets his hands on your mobile device, he will be able to open the WhatsApp application and read all the messages you’ve sent to your friends. However, there are a few applications which will add some security to the WhatsApp application by adding a password to it. For example, you can use either LOCX or AppLock. Both of these applications will be able to lock your WhatsApp application and whenever you will try to open it, you will have to enter the password to unlock it.
Hiding the “Last Seen” time
We all have friends that overwhelm us on WhatsApp. As soon as they see that we’re online, they will start bugging us with questions or their problems. However, there are days when you don’t wish to be disturbed by these types of friends. This is when you will want to disable the “Last Seen” status.
Disabling the Last seen time stamp is helpful for those who do not want others to know how often they are online on WhatsApp or, when it’s the last time they used it. Below we’ll show you how to disable it.
Open WhatsApp and go to Settings->Account->Privacy->Last Seen and select “Nobody”. This way, nobody will know when you’ve been last seen on WhatsApp.
Hiding your WhatsApp Profile photo from an Unknown Contact
By default, the WhatsApp profile photo is displayed to anyone that knows your mobile phone number. However, you can hide the profile image by going to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Privacy->Profile Photo and select “My Contacts”. This way, you will share the profile photo only with the persons you have in your contact list.
