WhatsApp Free Download – How to Disable Blue Ticks Read Receipts?

WhatsApp makes it possible for senders to know if their message has been read by the recipient and not everyone of its users were happy with it.
The popular messaging app has rolled out this new feature months ago but its users were open in saying that they are not a fan of the feature. Once your message has been read, it will show two blue tick marks that indicate that the recipient has opened and read your message. Fortunately, there is now a way to disable this feature.
Android Users Only
The bad news is that Android users can only disable this feature; so if you’re using an iOS device, you will have to wait for a while until there’s a way to turn off the blue tick marks. Additionally, the option to turn off the read receipt is only currently available in the app’s update in beta version for Android. The update is not yet available in the Google Play Store so you have to go to the app’s website to do it.
How to Disable the Read Receipts on WhatsApp
Go to the official website of WhatsApp to turn off the feature. From its website, download the latest update, WhatsApp 2.11.444 version. When the download is finished, just go to the privacy settings and disable the Read Receipts. You can only turn off the feature from the website because it’s not yet available in the Play Store.
Disabling Read Receipts
If you disable the read receipts, the people who sent you a message won’t know if you have already read their message. However, that also means that you won’t be able to view read receipts from other people. You also won’t know if they have read your message. Read Receipts, on the other, will always be available in group chats. Disabling the feature won’t disable it from WhatsApp group chats. iPhone users will have to wait for WhatsApp to release a new version before they can turn off the feature.
WhatsApp Read Receipts
Before the addition of the Read Receipts, there were only gray marks in the app. The double gray tick marks indicate that the message was delivered to the recipient’s device. Some users had mistaken them as the indicator that their message was read. It wasn’t until WhatsApp has officially released the double blue tick marks that it became clear what the tick marks really meant.
Double Blue Tick Marks – a Useful Feature
WhatsApp’s Read Receipts is a handy feature because it lets you know if the person has read your message. It means that you can expect a reply from them and you can also find out if they are just ignoring your message. But for users who want to ignore messages, this feature is a violation to their privacy. Fortunately for Android users, they have the option to disable the feature. Unfortunately for other users, it will continue to be a nuisance for them until WhatsApp has officially released an update that would allow them to turn it off.
