Facebook launched Slingshot app back in June for both Android and iOS devices. Now, on 4 December, Slingshot has been updated to version 2.0, along with some new features which have been incurred based on user feedback.

The updated Slingshot 2.0 allows users follow their friends and view new content divided into shots and reaction tabs. It also offers a new swipe-based navigation now. In the new version too the images are valid only for 24 hours or after the recipient actually views it. A new Explore section has been added to the new version which lets users discover friends and Slingshot creators too, whom they can follow. Notifications can also be turned on now.

Slighshot 2.0 is getting compared to Snapchat's Stories feature as it now allows users follow people. As pointed out by The Next Web, Slingshot 2.0 also allows users skip certain posts and send private comments to particular images and videos. It also supports filters, drawings and captions. Even a preview of the reaction can be seen by the users before finally sending them. Some other improved features in Slingshot 2.0 are sharing of full-screen images and looping videos with tapping twice, there are five new photo filters too, the swipe style design is quite easy to use and Slingshot images can be shared on Instagram and Facebook too.

The blog post on the updated apps says further, "We've made a number of improvements around the app to make it faster, more reliable and more delightful.” In August too, Facebook updated the app adding 'reactions to reactions' feature. Now the new Slingshot 2.0 version has been made available for iOS 7 and above, as well as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and above.
