Recently WhatsApp launched double blue ticks that mark the messages sent and successfully read among group members and individual chat mates.
The feature has divided opinion among the users. Some support it while others think it should be done away with. But what reasons do they have for their divided opinions?

The users who are for the two new blue ticks believe that it will help them know if the message they sent are delivered and read. It would make them keep tabs on their friends and family members who they think they cannot do without chatting with.
These are the people who send messages and wonder whether the messages had been delivered and if yes why they were not getting replies. This stretched their patience and they said it led to stress. But now with the two blue ticks, they will have peace of mind that their messages got across even if they were not replied.
The blue ticks feature is available on WhatsApp messengers across all mobile operating systems devices. Some of the platforms the blue ticks have already been rolled out successfully include Blackberry 10, Nokia S60, Nokia S40, all Windows phones, all Android and iOS devices.
In the past only gray ticks were used to show the message notifications. Single grey ticks meant that the message had been sent while the double gray ticks signified the message was successfully sent and delivered. Now, the double blue ticks show that the message has been read by the recipient.
If you hold down the message information option, you will view the time the recipients received and read your messages. This works for both two-way conversations and group chats.
It will be hard for people to lie that they did not see the message because the double blue ticks cannot be displayed if the recipients did not view the message.
You might want to live in denial and wish that your message had not reached its destination. But the truth is that it reached and your friends read it. So if you have a crush that is not replying your messages read the signs of the time and move on.
The double blue ticks sign has rendered the “Last seen” notification redundant because it is now more precise to know the on line status of your friends by the use of blue ticks than by relying on the “Last seen” notification.

Those not for the blue ticks argue that it will make stalkers’ job easier as they will pester users with messages which the users do not necessarily need and perhaps don’t care.
Others think the double blue ticks will severe relationships since they will portray one set of partners as if they don’t care, while portraying the other or others in case of group chats as arrogant. No one wants to be taken for a ride or be cheated that you were busy yet the message indicates you read it.
Still some are fed up with the blue tick notifications and swear if they do not feel like replying, they will not. After all, silence is an answer in itself. You will be left filling in the gaps.
You have been friend zoned for a long time now it is time for you to wake up and smell the coffee that you are wasting your time. If a person cannot find time for you, they are not worth keeping. Drop them and you will be one baggage lighter.
Opponents of the double blue tick feel that the WhatsApp has now given away their privacy to stalkers because they can no longer set their application to hide their online status.
Conditions
However, not all phones have shown successful update of the double blue ticks. In its blog post, WhatsApp sought to assure users that if the blue ticks don’t appear there was nothing wrong with their messenger or their phones. It could be because the recipients’ phone is turned off or because they are sleeping; for instance if they are in another time zone.
Other reasons advanced for the failure of the update are poor network connectivity and the fact that some users especially the iPhone ones had seen the notifications but had not launched their WhatsApp messenger.
