Google is a data-crawling machine, we all know that. But what exactly does Google know about you? You can access certain information stored about you online with the links provided in this article. While some of this stuff might be scary, it’s also nice to know that you have control over many things happening with your data. Let’s get started:

1. How does Google see me?

Google always tries to serve relevant ads to you. It doesn’t matter if you’re on YouTube, Gmail or within a search query, Google (roughly) knows who you are, your interests and which languages you speak. All this information is stored in your Google Ads profile.

2. What did I search for on Google?

Google knows what you searched for and on which ads you clicked. Ever. Not only the regular Google search but also Google Maps, Images or news (amongst others). It’s nicely stored and categorised in your search history. In addition to all search queries you can also check how many search queries you did in total and at which days or time you perform most searches. Pretty scary, huh?

3. Which websites, apps and extensions are using my Google data?

Do you like to use your Google+ account to login somewhere? Have an Android devices? All these settings and accounts are linked in your security settings. This is not really scary, but can be really helpful to check if some websites unknowingly have access to your data. This tool offers the possibility to revoke the access to your date.

4. Where have I been?

Ever asked yourself where drunken-you went last night? Did you phone got stolen and you want to check where it currently is? If you’re using an Android device, the location-history got you covered. Kinda scary but sometimes really interesting and helpful.

5. What did I watch on YouTube?

Ever looked for a video that you watched on YouTube a few days ago but can’t find it anymore? The YouTube watch history nicely lists all videos that you’ve ever watched on YouTube.

6. What did I search for on YouTube?

Just like the Google search history, YouTube also stores all your queries. While it makes more sense to check your watched videos history, this might also be useful for some of you.

7. Which devices accessed my Google account?

Got hacked? Do you suspect somebody to stalk you? Google lists all devices that accessed your Google account. You’re able to revoke access to protect yourself from others logging into your account.

8. How can I download all my data from Google?

Google offers the possibility to download everything it stored for you like bookmarks, YouTube videos or your Blogger blogs. Interested? Check the Google Takeout.
